About Catawba, SC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Catawba is a small, unincorporated York County community. Previously known as Catawba Ridge, only about 1,400 people call the community home. It is located in the Piedmont region of South Carolina and was originally populated by the Catawba Native Americans. In 1850, the tribes purchased a 600-acre piece of land called the Catawba Indian Reservation, which is the only federally recognized reservation in the state. As of 2011, there were 2,800 members of the reservation, which offers a housing program, medical care, child care, and a variety of other services.

As a small community, there are no major businesses or attractions located in Catawba. However, outdoor enthusiasts may enjoy a trip to Landsford Canal State Park, which offers fishing, hiking, boating, and playground equipment. Other interesting attractions are located in nearby Rock Hill, including the Museum of York County and the Main Street Children’s Museum.

The climate of Catawba is part of a humid subtropical zone, which is characterized by cool, dry winters and hot, humid summers. Snow isn’t extremely common in the area, with only about three inches of accumulation each year. However, overnight lows can fall below the freezing point, which may lead to some dangerous conditions. A heat pump or home furnace system is a necessity to stay safe during this season, although winters are relatively short.

Summer weather in Catawba can be quite hot, with high temperatures reaching the low-90s during July. However, high humidity levels can make it feel even warmer, and these muggy conditions can become quite uncomfortable. To stay cool, residents will invest in central air conditioning, and variable speed systems with high SEER ratings are a great choice. An HVAC specialist can help residents to choose Energy Star systems that can save money on monthly utility costs and may also be rebate-eligible, leading to additional savings.
